Brett Jarvis
Believes that every player on the roster needs to develop throughout the season and have the opportunity to succeed to be a part of a successful group.
Played hockey in the Bobcats zone from Age 5-15 years old. As a non-parent who loved the game and missed being around it competitively at the age of 21 I started out by running the Forward gate for my dad for 2 seasons while my brother played Midget AA for the Bobcats and a third season helping a different head coach in the same role. at 24 i took my own team for the first time as a head coach. This season will be my 6th season behind the bench as a head coach all of them with the Saskatoon Spartans winning 2 city titles in 5 seasons. I have also coached the Zone 6 Sask First team the last 3 seasons winning the first 2.
Peter Keating
Peter was born in Saskatoon, but began playing minor hockey in Edmonton. His family moved back to Saskatoon where he finished playing his minor hockey and went on to play six years of senior hockey.
Peter has coached both of his boy’s minor hockey teams for the past twelve years in Saskatoon. Peter was also head coach for the Pee Wee Thunder for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Peter’s 2012-13 Thunder Team won the GSHL city championship and were the provincial championship representatives for Zone 6.
One thing Peter stresses as a head coach is a team-first approach. Peter feels that a group of players that are taught to play well as a team will have greater successes than teams of skilled individuals that do not have a good sense of team. Another trait of Peter’s teams is their consistent, hard work ethic. Peter wants his players to understand as much about hockey as he can teach them, and still realize it's about making lifelong friends and enjoying the great game of hockey!
Colin Parenteau – Saskatoon River Kings
Colin Parenteau has been involved with Saskatoon Minor Hockey and the GSHL for many years, beginning when he took on the role of Assistant Coach with the Martinsville Marauders Midget AA team while attending the College of Education at the U of S. He went on to Head Coach the Marauders Bantam AA team until the program combined with Warman to become the Sask Valley Vipers. Colin and his Associate Coaches (Danton Danielson and Sheldon Goertzen) then coached the Saskatoon Maniacs in the GSHL for two seasons and in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League for a third season. Colin has also been involved with the Sask First program since 2013. In all, he has spent the past 10 years coaching Minor Hockey.
Colin believes one of the responsibilities of a good coach is to surround oneself with great people. Over the years he has coached alongside: Trevor Cornish (Leduc Oil Kings Midget AAA), Patrick Nogier (Saskatoon Contacts Midget AAA), Chris Jacobsen (Saskatoon Contacts Midget AAA) and Kal Parenteau (Regina Pat Canadians Midget AAA). Colin has learned a lot from these coaches over the years. Colin continues to surround himself with great people, having coached with Danton Danielson and Sheldon Goertzen for the past 6 seasons. Colin believes in coaching by committee along with these two gentlemen. Together they have developed a common philosophy rooted in skill development and player enjoyment. Colin believes his most important job is to ensure that his players love the game and he feels that this is accomplished by creating an environment where players are free to be creative and make mistakes. Discipline and accountability are still very important core values in Colin's philosophy. Colin and his staff derive significant enjoyment from helping players achieve their goals and they believe their new role with the River Kings will be the perfect opportunity to help players get to the next level!
