GSHL CODE OF ETHICS

AS A PARENT:

1.       I will teach my child that doing one’s best is as important as winning

2.       I will never question the official’s judgement

3.       I will show respect and appreciation for the volunteer coaches and administrators

4.       I understand there may be circumstances to which my child does not receive equitable ice time during a game. I will exercise a 24hr cool down period prior to approaching the coaches

AS A SPECTATOR:

1.       I will remember that participants play for their enjoyment and not to entertain me

2.       I will not have unrealistic expectations and remember that the players are not professionals

3.       I will respect the officials decisions and will encourage others to do the same

4.       I will not use bad language, nor harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators

AS A COACH:

1.       I will be reasonable when scheduling practices and training, remembering that players have other interests and obligations

2.       I will teach my players to play fairly and to respect the rules, officials and opponents

3.       I will ensure that all players receive equitable teaching instruction throughout practices and games and that they receive full support along with equitable opportunity towards playing time over the course of the regular season

4.       I will not ridicule my players for making mistakes or for performing poorly. I will remember that players must be taught to have confidence in themselves

5.       I will remember that participants need a coach they can respect

FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED:

1.       A point has to be made that coaches must be allowed to coach

2.       A point has to be made that players must be allowed to play

3.       A point must be made that officials must be allowed to officiate

4.       A point must be made that spectators and such must be allowed to enjoy the game

GSHL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS:

 

1.       ALL GSHL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS SHARE A COMMON RESPONSIBILITY TO UPHOLD THE INTEGRITY OF THE LEAGUE, PLAYERS, COACHES AND PARENTS INVOLVED, AND MUST ACT ACCORDINGLY PLACING THE SOLE INTEREST TOWARDS THE ENTIRE LEAGUE FIRST.
